I can not believe people discard generations of photographs. I can see it if its a picture of a blury scene or a scenic photo that you just don't have a clue as to where it was taken at, but a portrait of a relative, that's a different story.

I will be following this work flow.

01: Using a Epson V700 and VueScan, the photos will be scanned at 600 dpi, 48 bit rgb, and no color correction.

02: Bring in to Adobe's Lightroom to be tagged and then cleaned up. There will be miminal amount of touch up. If the photo so badly damaged that it requires an enormous amount of time, I will just move on. With the enhancement of the older faded photos, I will be bringing out the stains and damages that have occurred over the years of storage and neglect. I will not be able to touch up every single one. What you see is what you get.

03: Send out to the web. I will try to stick to a predefined template. The template will include as much metadata as possible. The organization will be by the collection of how I get them. If anyone recognizes any one or place, send me an email and I will update the information.
